Borrowing the name from the International Swimming Federation, also known as: FINA — the company, FINA was born. At its infancy, I simply wanted to create a product suitable for water mammals (and land mammals alike). As a result, this united my concept of aquatic sports and functional design.
The product needed to be highly durable, breathable, and water resistant because any sort of wet gear can damage the bag. I also wanted to retain our appreciation for beauty and aesthetics — an easily overlooked value that Design also offers.
By having these in mind, the Strip-Mesh Vinyl Gym Bag was born.
It was difficult to move forward after placing the amount of thought in that particular product and coming up with the Brand. But I needed to build on branding and think about the intention behind the products. By looking further into the initial Brand name, I realized that the ideals of FINA wasn’t just about swimming, it was about celebrating and promoting aquatic sports on a global scale.
I am now relaying those same ideals — not only for swimmers and not only through products, but also through stories and experiences that can speak to everyone.
Through the exploration of different cultures and sourcing their artifacts, materials, even foods; FINA can now design a wider array of goods that reflect those origins and bring something unique to the customer.
